System Requirements
RealOne Desktop Manager:
* Pentium III 550, or equivalent
* 256 MB RAM
* Internet Explorer 5.0 or later, or Netscape 4.7x or later
* Windows NT with SP4 or later, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Linux 2.2, Solaris 2.7 or 2.8, IBM AIX 4.3, HP-UX 11.0, OSF 5.1
RealOne Enterprise Desktop:
* 233MHz Intel Pentium II processor
* 64MB of RAM
* 28.8Kpbs modem (audio only)
* 16-bit sound card and speakers
* 65,000-color video display card set to display at 800x600 (video)
* Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 4 or later, Windows 2000, Windows XP
* IE 5.0 or later
Enhancements and upgrades included in RDM v1.1:
* Upgrade to the latest RealOne Player core technology, with security patches. The RDM/RED platform upgrades incorporates all of the latest core technology optimizations and upgrades. This will include a patch correcting "buffer overflow" conditions.
* Increased Uptime/MTBF. Uptime for the RED Player has been significantly improved to accommodate continuous operation.
* Corrections to the Embedded RED Player. The operation of the RED Player within a browser context has been streamlined and enhanced.
* Changes to the Installation Process. Media playback and access problems when the product was installed as an Administrator have been corrected.
* New User Interface Look and Feel. The embedded RED Player has been updated with the latest RealOne design elements.
* Refinements to the SMIL subsystem. SMIL files can now be authored with even more richness, with embedded pages and expanded hyperlink support
* Improved collection and display of playback statistics.
Known Issues:
* Scripted window.open() invocations in the RED browser should include width and height parameters for best results.
* If using Netscape v4.7x, the RED browser only supports a single instance of the player embedded in a web page.
* If using Netscape v4.7x, toggling from full screen mode back to the original size of the application is accomplished by displaying the Context window (right click), and selecting 'Original Size'; selecting the ESC key has no effect.
* If using the EMBED tag, failure to set the HEIGHT and WIDTH parameters = 0 will cause the display of player controls in the lower left hand side of the page. Explicitly setting these parameters = 0 eliminates the problem.
* Attempting to call a function via Javascript from the HREF tag will not work under any circumstances in any Netscape product. This is a feature of this browser. An alternate way to accomplish this same functionality is to invoke the function with the OnClick method.
Partial Summary of Problem Reports Corrected in v1.1:
* Buffer overflow condition can be caused under certain situations
* PAC file settings not interpreted correctly
* When a player is installed by the Administrator account, playback does not work as expected
* Player consumes large quantities of memory when left playing live overnight
* Embedded player user interface does not contain a volume control
* Player does not properly handle browser-related parameters
* Player does not display a status bar when in full-screen mode
* Embedded player graphics need to be updated
* Playback statistics are being displayed incorrectly
* View Source option not working properly with SMIL content
* SMIL-based content not behaving properly; hyperlinks not working properly
* Visual Basic crashes under certain conditions when using the player ActiveX control
* HTML tags for video sizing are not correctly interpreted
* Right mouse button click is not displaying the context menu during audio-only playback
* Playback statistics are being displayed incorrectly
* Player does not respond correctly to embedded API calls
* Javascript API calls not working properly
* RED could not be started with the browser closed
